Living In Prison?

Mel sat in her car. Outside the interview. Heart frozen.

“I’m not good enough.” Brain whispering. “They’ll know.”

Watching, minutes passed. Finally drove away.

Again.

Through tears, Mel told her sister.

“You should try energy healing, “her sister said. “I hear great results.”

“I don’t believe in that.”

Months later – still unemployed – still skeptical – she tried it.

During her third energy healing session something cracked.

An old voice from childhood: “Don’t get your hopes up.”

Released. Gone.

She went to the interview.

Smiled.

Realized she’d not known how to walk through her prison door.

Although it had always been open.
